in todays world, askin for help and receiving it may be as difficult as getting your cat to pee in the sandbox instead of your carpet. but when the time comes that someone does offer you help, some if not most would think, nah i wouldn't wanna burden the dude. but see, the way i see it, the helper usually gets as many rewards from providing help as the receiver gets, in terms of self satisfaction and fulfilment, given the assumption of zero evil intentions. that describes a true win-win situation. refusing help, in economic terms, can be seen as a dead weight loss of welfare.
rule of tens
when you decide you coulld use assistance, sitdown and make a list of ten names of individuals and organisations you think might help - the first ten names that come to mind (for miserable friendless folks, make it five). then contact each of the names on your list. tell them what you need. you can be suprised if you dont come away from this exercise with a longer list of names and phone numbers, some of which will be able to satisfy your needs completely. if you dont, begin again with list of ten different names.
networking is one accepted way to get what you need in this world, why not let your network pay off for you?
p.s. i am in no way in support of multi level marketing with its get rich through networking and what-have-yous. i'm just for the the idea of a benevolent and philantrophical society.
